Average refers to the eight-year period 1994-2001, but is not produced by the spatial interpolation of measurements in Slovenia, but by reducing the scale of reanalyzes ECMWF ERA-40. Wind on the surface of Slovenia, we evaluated all models. The requirement in the modelling was that the model estimates correspond well with measurements. Estimates are for an area of 1 km × 1 km with a uniform surface (vegetation). Comparison between measurements and model results show good agreement in most of Slovenia, also central- mountain and high mountain station (Kredarica). Misalignment of the measurement is reflected in the Vipava Valley. Bora in the Vipava Valley is underestimated. Even in some Alpine valleys, the average wind speed is underestimated.
